I am a wedding and portrait photographer currently serving Northern Virginia, DC and beyond. Originally from Ohio, I have moved up and down the east coast over the past 8 years- starting college in Savannah, Georgia and finishing in Charleston, South Carolina. Basically, I am always itching to travel, so buy me a plane ticket and I will be there!
I live in a great neighborhood with my two dogs, a rottweiler puppy named Fisher & a rescue, husky mix named Aspen. They know how to keep me busy. I am the kind of person that you can find sitting on the couch reading a book for hours on end, anything from historical fiction to the latest mystery novel. When I am not reading or capturing some of your happiest moments, you can catch me binge watching The Good Place and Brooklyn 9-9 (a very underrated show in my opinion!).
So let's grab a slice pizza, get to know each other, and plan out how to best capture your story!
Photography has always been something I have turned to as a creative outlet. From disposable cameras on vacation growing up to creating scrapbooks of polaroids, and even making my friends go on little photoshoots with me in high school. I was just drawn to this idea of capturing a such a quick and fleeting moment in time. I saw it as a challenge & never looked back.
When I was in high school I told myself I wanted to shoot for non-profit companies and their campaigns, but the creative freedom and storytelling of couples and weddings (as well as fashion) has just sucked me in and continues to inspire me. That fact that each couple and their individual days are all so different drive me to make that unique experience that best fits them. That is why I do what I do and aim to help capture memories for a lifetime.
Outside of photography I am an avid reader. I will read anything from murder mystery to historical fiction, psychological thrillers to high fantasy. Give me a book and a few hours to read and I will devour it. So find me on Goodreads if you want to swap book recommendations!
I've also always been the type of person to try different forms of art and my current obsession is stained glass. My grandpa made pieces for years and I wish I had picked it up sooner. It's such an addicting craft and the outcome is beautiful.
Something I've loved to do since I was little was travel. My grandparents used to take my sister and I on these amazing vacations all around the US. It was my favorite part of each summer. I loved it so much that I actually ended up majoring in International Relations in college partially because studying abroad was a requirement (lol, sorry mom). I did mine in Prague & absolutely fell in love with the city and the Czech nation. So uh, if you're looking for a travel buddy, I got you ;)
So there is just a little sneak peek into my life and a few of my favorite things. I cannot wait to learn about you & your favorites as well.
Now for what you came for! As I've mentioned, each day is different and leading up to your wedding or session I like to send out a questionnaire for you to fill out so I can get to know you. We will be friends before you step in front of my lens!
On the big day, I like to show up about 15 minutes early to get the vibe and layout of the venue. That way we can ease into everything while you get ready as well. Whatever you may need, I am here for it. I am not just your photographer for the day. -
I am your mirror when a hair is out of place, I've got the safety pins to mend a dress when needed, I will grab you a water and chat with you when we've got a break and you need a minute of down time. I am your hype woman all day long.
You want a picture with a group of friends, just ask! I will document your day from getting ready till the party shoes come off on the dance floor (you may see me dancing on the sidelines along with you). I am here for you & every little in between moment you never want to forget.
From the very first time I held a camera, it felt like magic. Cheesy as that sounds, I've always been drawn back to it.
I love the way people react when they see what I see from behind the lens. That boost of confidence they get, that feeling of pure joy knowing that they've got something that perfectly encapsulates a specific time in their lives. That is why I do this.
